The legislation, known as the GENIUS Act, is focused on what is known as stablecoin, a digital currency tied to the value of a specific asset – in this case the US dollar. The push for the bill represented a rare bipartisan effort in the Senate for major legislation. But while there has been general agreement across the Senate that regulation is necessary, key Democrats initially balked at moving ahead after demanding changes to the legislation.

“Stablecoins are already playing an important role in the global economy, and it is essential that the U.S. enact legislation that protects consumers, while also enabling responsible innovations,” Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, one of the initial Democratic cosponsors of the bill, said in a statement on Friday.

“Jupnet is a really big lift across the board, lots of research to be done across the board, proof of concepts to be developed in lieu of a good design, followed by lots of productizing. With Jupnet, we hope to add some special elements to the crypto space,” @weremeow noted in a post.

The bill seeks to curb Big Tech’s control over digital money, demanding special approval before giants like Meta can issue their own stablecoins. This is noteworthy because it is the first step toward true financial decentralization backed by federal law.

“Many senators, myself included, have very real concerns about the Trump family’s use of crypto technologies to evade oversight, hide shady financial dealings, and personally profit at the expense of everyday Americans. We have a duty to shine a light on these abuses and stop Donald Trump from exploiting emerging technologies to enrich himself, dodge accountability, and weaken the safeguards that protect American consumers and the rule of law,” noted Warner.

Bitcoin (BTC), the world’s oldest and most valued crypto, managed to remain stable above the $94,000 mark early Wednesday. Other popular altcoins — including the likes of Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Ripple (XRP), and Litecoin (LTC) — saw a mix of minor dips and gains as the overall Market Fear & Greed Index stood at 52 (Neutral) out of 100, as per CoinMarketCap data. Monero (XMR) became the biggest gainer, with a 24-hour jump of nearly 3 percent. The TRUMP token turned out to be the biggest loser today, with a 24-hour dip of nearly 9 percent.

Avinash Shekhar, Co-founder & CEO, Pi42, said, “Dogecoin is flashing a sign of bullish breakout backed by a falling wedge formation, indicating a possibility of future upswing. With dips lately, the configuration is indicative of the fact that it may be on its way to a fresh all-time high. Bitcoin continues to be in solid shape, staying strong at important support areas with a setup clean for a rally to $98,300 fueled by good news on the trade deal front. It remains trading above the 200-day moving average, which indicates high long-term confidence.”

Unfortunately, not all coins performed well today. The worst performer in the cryptocurrency top 200 was ai16z, which saw a loss of -10.06%. Worldcoin also didn’t perform well, as its price declined by -7.51% in the last 24 hours. Virtual Protocol, MANTRA DAO and Official Trump round out today’s top 5 worst performers.

Thanks to a 7.91% price increase, Axelar was the biggest gainer of the day among the top 200 cryptocurrencies by market cap. Safe came in second place, with 24-hour gains of 7.85%. Celo, WEMIX Token and Bonk complete today’s list of the top cryptocurrency gainers.

What is the most likely outcome? Since the start of the year, BTC has been either in the ‘Still Cheap’ or ‘HODL’ zones. In addition, both breaking above local resistance and even retesting the asset’s all-time high (ATH) price of roughly $108,000 would place it firmly within the ‘HODL!’ zone. Therefore, the $95,164 to $125,174 range appears to be the most realistic forecast for April 30.

Beyond the large-cap assets, many crypto investors remain focused on blockchain-based artificial intelligence (AI) or decentralized AI (deAI). For example, according to data provider Kaito, AI-related projects accounted for about one-third of crypto industry “mindshare” (social media attention) over the last three months (Exhibit 5). The Bittensor ecosystem in particular has been expanding, driving outperformance of its TAO token. Bittensor now has over 90 active subnets, and subnet tokens have an aggregate circulating market capitalization of $580 million. Other notable crypto/AI developments in April included the first successful decentralized training of a 32bn parameter model by Prime Intellect (a collaboration between Flock.io and Alibaba Cloud), and Nous Research raising $50mm in fundraising led by Paradigm to support decentralized model training on Solana.
